The Sub.tv Info System

The Sub.tv Info system can be installed over a single screen in one building or over 100's of screens spread across multiple buildings and campuses. A cluster of screens can be controlled by a single player which can output up to 4 different channels of information. Each channel of information can be distributed over a number of screens in portrait or landscape mode. There is no limit as to the number of screens that are attached to each player showing the same 'channel' of information - the only limit is the distance between the player and the screens for cabling reasons. The screens are attached to the player using Cat5 network cables and as a results need to be within 150m of each other. (longer distances can be achieved using more powerful boosters but these can be more costly than installing a separate installation.

Screens

Digital Signage systems are often required to broadcast for most of the day. As a results the use of domestic tv screens , that are designed to be used for only a few hours per day are not recommended as their mean time to failure is lower and hence they are not as cost effective in the long run. Unlike domestic screens, the professional panels can also be used in high light intensity areas, in portrait mode as well as in video walls. Sub.tv Info recommends the use of professional panels (screens) for your signage installations. These panels are designed to be turned on everyday between 12 and 24hours, giving them a much longer working life. The manufacturers are so confident of their professional panels that they come with a 3yr warranty as opposed to only 12months with domestic screens. For more information on why to chose professional panels take a look at this white paper here.

Network

Each player situated across campus can operate multiple screens within a certain range. The players require an internet connection so they can be updated with all of your scheduled content and remotely maintained. Although the player is ‘on your network' we only require 1 or 2 ports to be open with restricted inbound and outbound internet access between the player and the Sub.tv Server. We have successfully worked with the University IT and network departments in ensuring security and reliability at all of our installation sites. If you'd like to talk with one of our existing installations IT department please get in touch on the contact pages.

Media Players

We are able to supply the media players that drive the Sub.tv Info Software, these are tower based Dell XPS PCs, If you'd prefer we can give you the minimum spec and you could supply the players yourself - we would then remotely install the Sub.tv Info software and set everything up for you. The players can be set-up to distribute up to 4channels of information each, over landscape or portrait screens. During the consultation period we will work with you to determine the most cost effective way in communicating all of your needs across campus.
